Either as a restomod with a complete rebuild, or as a conversion of your existing car.

Can you convert a VW Beetle to electric?

Yes, Knepper Bugs & more converts VW Beetles to a Tesla drivetrain in cooperation with ESDI-EV. Options are a restomod with a complete rebuild or a conversion of your existing Beetle.

What is the range of a Knepper electric Beetle?

According to the Knepper Bugs & more spec sheet, the Knepper LS-E covers around 300 km with 50 kWh and the Knepper RS-E around 250 km with 48 kWh.

What is the difference between the Knepper LS-E and RS-E?

The Knepper RS-E is the more powerful version with 647 PS according to the spec sheet (604 PS measured) and around 250 km of range from 48 kWh, while the Knepper LS-E has 300 PS and covers around 300 km with 50 kWh. Knepper Bugs & more states a top speed of 210 km/h for the LS-E and currently 190 km/h for the RS-E; both are available as a Convertible or sedan.

What motor is in the Knepper electric Beetle?

The electric Beetles from Knepper Bugs & more run on a Tesla drivetrain; the Knepper RS-E uses a Tesla Model S Performance motor with batteries from the Porsche Taycan. Partner company ESDI-EV brings the Tesla drivetrain into the Beetle, and the cars are built at Knepper in Rahden.

How much does an electric conversion of a VW Beetle cost?
