How much does a Subaru engine swap in a VW T3 (Vanagon) cost?

Knepper Bugs & more does not publish an overall price for a Subaru conversion in the T3; you can discuss the cost in a consultation. Individual core parts in the shop cost: LMB adapter kit €568.90, LMB engine mount €229.00, throttle cable kit €89.90 and modified water bridge €109.90 with core exchange or €139.90 without (as of October 2026).

Which Subaru engines fit a VW T3 (Vanagon)?

The Subaru conversion parts in the Knepper Bugs & more shop are designed for the EJ20, EJ22 and EJ25 boxer engines, for example the modified water bridges for EJ25 or EJ20/EJ22 and the lower airbox for EJ22/EJ25. For other engines, a wiring harness modification is available on request.

Which transmission works with a Subaru engine in a VW T3 (Vanagon)?

The LMB adapter kit for the T3 from the Knepper Bugs & more shop only fits the 4- and 5-speed transmissions of the gasoline models; the LMB engine mount does not fit with a diesel transmission or with a Bott oil pan.

Can you do a Subaru conversion on a VW T3 Syncro (Vanagon Syncro)?

For the T3 Syncro, Knepper Bugs & more offers the LMB engine mount for the Subaru engine; it sits on the original engine crossmember but does not fit in combination with a Bott oil pan or a diesel transmission. The LMB adapter kit for the T3 only fits the 4- and 5-speed transmissions of the gasoline models; you can clarify everything else about your Syncro in a consultation.
